Use Cases and Market Sectors

WhiteStar SNP and HyperSpace™ have applicable use cases for virtually all enterprises due to increasing cybersecurity threats, the increased mobility of the workforce, and new high- performance demands of AI and IoT applications. WhiteStar provides seamless secure access for hybrid and remote workforces, especially in businesses where confidential or sensitive information is being handled and employee travel takes personnel to customer or partner locations to work behind restricting firewalls. WhiteStar’s advanced security, unparalleled mobility, communications resiliency, and ease of implementation fit well in every industry. However, several market sectors lead others in the need for trusted, secure, private communications.

  • Finance and Banking: WhiteStar HyperSpace™ allows existing bank apps and other legacy apps to run without any changes over WhiteStar SNP. WhiteStar HyperSpace™ also allows select information, such as mergers and acquisition due diligence, to be shared between financial institutions without exposing the rest of each enterprise’s networks to the other.
  • Healthcare: WhiteStar’s HyperSpace™ Proxy Agent is ideally suited to address secure remote access to FDA regulated medical devices which cannot have software loaded on them without requiring a rigorous and multi-year recertification process. WhiteStar HyperSpace™ can also provide secure transfer of medical records by securing existing applications, such as patient portals, that are provided to patients to access their own records. WhiteStar is exhibiting its secure transport technology for remote imaging at the December, RSNA 2025 Convention.
  • Critical Infrastructure: WhiteStar SNP and HyperSpace™ are critical infrastructure NIST standard compliant (software or solutions), which conform with NIST SP 800-161 SSDF. WhiteStar ensures security today and future proofs critical infrastructure for tomorrow’s threats by providing the first ever quantum-resistant network and the ability to roll to post-quantum NIST encryption algorithms across an entire network instantaneously. WhiteStar’s HyperSpace™ Proxy Agent is ideally suited to secure IoT and other SCADA devices which cannot have software loaded on them, even those which need to remain on air gap networks.
  • Legal Services: WhiteStar SNP and WhiteStar HyperSpace™ provide much needed protection of confidential client information, enabling the ability to transfer large files securely between parties without exposing any information to legal and regulatory issues associated with storage of personal data in third party cloud infrastructures. WhiteStar HyperSpace™ can also provide secure transfer of client files, by securing existing applications, such as patient portals, that are provided to patients to access their own records. Finally, WhiteStar provides both HyperSpace™ and WhiteStar specialty applications that provide large file transfers without having to break up documents into separate e-mails and reassemble the document upon receipt. This has proven particularly useful for patent attorneys transferring large files securely back and forth with clients.
  • Defense: The most secure and critical performance requirements are found in the defense sector of government. WhiteStar SNP and WhiteStar HyperSpace™ are extremely well suited for this high consequence, rigorous environment. WhiteStar’s leadership has years of experience in this sector including ITAR certifications and carrying the United States’ highest security clearances. Defense customers are inclined to use HyperSpace™ for legacy applications and to develop their own proprietary native applications that access the WhiteStar SNP directly taking advantage of all features available to them including encryption of data in flight and at rest, data rights management, and preemptive prioritization capabilities. WhiteStar provides a software developers kit (SDK) and artifactory code version support for companies developing native WhiteStar SNP applications.

  • Ed Carney

    Chairman of the Board

    ed@edwardtcarney.com

Ed started with IBM where he rose to Director of Global Network Design Engineering. He then joined Cisco Systems in roles including Vice President and General Manager for Cisco System Engineering, at RTP. Ed later moved to be Exec VP of Product and Customer Success for Extreme Networks. Among other prestigious positions and appointments, Ed has chaired the General Hugh Shelton Leadership Center and been appointed by the NC Governor to Chair the Micro Electronics Center of North Carolina.

  • Rich began his career as a hardware circuit design engineer with Uniden designing dual mode cell phones. Rich then joined Motorola where his unique technical expertise soon led to his having designed and deployed cellular system technology changeovers for cellular infrastructure for multiple Telco Operators including PacTel. Rich developed new processes and wrote the white papers on how to deploy the first CDMA system in the USA in partnership with the founders of Qualcomm. Rich was recruited by Mobile Systems International, an early phase software and services company, to open and run their Atlanta division where he led efforts to design networks for Verizon, BellSouth International, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T. This included 1G to 2G, 2G to 3G, 3G to 4G, 4G to 5G and a look ahead to 6G. When your cell phone switched seamlessly in the night to a new technology, it was on the design practices developed and led by Rich. During Rich’s tenure at MSI, he helped grow the company from 50 to over 500 employees while expanding to 14 global offices and eventually MSI sold for over $1B. After successfully leading his own consulting business for ten years, he was recruited by his old boss at Motorola to join AT&T’s HQ Product and Strategy Group to elevate their design practices for the most difficult and high profile venues in AT&T’s Portfolio such as AT&T Stadium, other NFL, NBA, NHL, KY Derby, NCAA Final Four, Coachella and other Concert venues etc. Rich developed an entirely new design process that yielded a minimum of 2x capacity improvements on every venue thus elevating AT&T’s brand. Rich left this high-level position at AT&T to join WhiteStar as its CEO bringing his special combination of technical expertise and business acumen.

  • Billy Moon

    CTO

    bgmoon@whitestar.io

Billy holds over 300 patents advancing mobile and internet technologies. His list of technical proficiencies is commensurate with what it takes to have achieved the triple crown status of Distinguished Engineer for Cisco Systems, Extreme Networks, and CREE. Billy’s early career was in the cellular industry as a software engineer for Motorola, then as a Senior Manager for Americom Corp before becoming Vice President of Engineering at Uniden. Billy was recruited to Ericsson where he was Director of New Concepts. Transitioning to the internet industry, Billy was a prolific Distiguished Engineer with Cisco Systems serving with Ed Carney there. Later, Billy formed Red Shirt Robotics, a specialty robotics provider targeting the defense industry, before spinning out WhiteStar Communications and inviting his more business-centric brother, Rich, to provide the business leadership.
